Healthcare Design – Getting Creative in Pediatrics

When the patient is a child, these spaces must deliver the same messages of confidence, permanence, and healing in a non-institutional manner that is playful but not trite. CMC Hospital Texas / Custom Art + LuxCore (Fusion)

Creative, colorful, and playful elements can produce a jovial feeling for children and families. ATI Decorative Laminates offers multiple solutions for bringing color and texture to a healthcare space while still meeting material and code requirements for healthcare installations. At the Dallas Children’s Hospital, Fusion was chosen for the food serving area’s counter façade, combining cheery color on whimsical FusionSwirl, a hand-swirled aluminum, while maintaining durability for a food service area. Custom art was created using Fusion on our highly durable and abrasion-resistant LuxCore for a large wall space behind the beverage center. Made from Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic (FRP), LuxCore was the perfect choice for this wet space because it passes sanitary codes, is easy to clean, and is not damaged by water.  The ability to create a custom, large-scale piece of durable art, like the colorful, oversized straws, easily introduced fun and color to the space.

Along with Fusion, ATI Decorative Laminate’s MirroFlex product line is light weight and high-impact resistant but also deeply textured to create a unique look, making it perfect for most healthcare applications. MirroFlex laminates meet Class A fire ratings and are chemical resistant.
